Rhinoplasty — Nose Surgery

Many would argue that the nose is the most defining component of one’s face, as its size and shape greatly affect the way we look. With advancements in technology, rhinoplasty can change the size and shape of your nose with the most precise results ever. Rhinoplasty patients of our clinic in the Quad City area of Illinois and Iowa, often request the removal of a nasal bump or altered projection. Dr. Aric Eckhardt can also correct a crooked nose, drooping tip, and obstructed airways. In fact, rhinoplasty is frequently performed to correct breathing problems caused by misshapen internal nasal structures.

When you meet Dr. Eckhardt, you will have the opportunity to ask any questions you have about the rhinoplasty procedure, and discuss your goals. After the initial consultation at our clinic in the Illinois, Iowa, Quad City area, Dr. Eckhardt will formulate a treatment plan that will best meet you needs. Since no two rhinoplasty procedures are alike, Dr. Eckhardt places great stress on this initial treatment plan.

During the actual rhinoplasty procedure, Dr. Eckhardt changes the size and/or shape of the nose by adding or removing cartilage and bone. There are two approaches to rhinoplasty surgery that we use at our clinic in Moline, Illinois: closed and open. During a closed rhinoplasty, which is generally used for minor adjustments, incisions are only made inside the nose. Open rhinoplasty surgery is used for more extensive treatment. An incision is also made across the columella (the skin between the nostrils), and is connected to the internal incisions. Dr. Eckhardt uses absolute precision to ensure that minimal scarring remains once the procedure is complete.

Rhinoplasty is performed on an outpatient basis with the use of general anesthesia. The entire procedure requires from two to three hours at the Moline, Illinois clinic. Swelling and bruising are unavoidable, but will fade away a few weeks after rhinoplasty surgery. Once your nose has completely healed, you will enjoy your brand new look and/or improved breathing!
